December–April · sunny but windier

Rain is unusual. Mornings are often the better bet, while strong offshore Papagayo winds can build later in the day, especially in the heart of the dry season.

May–July · transition to calmer seas

The wind generally eases and mornings are frequently beautiful. Afternoon showers become possible as the landscape turns green.

August–November · calm mornings, rainy afternoons

Often lovely for morning sailing and snorkeling. Leave room for rain later in the day; August–October is also a key humpback-whale migration window.

Typical seasonal patterns, not a daily forecast. Papagayo wind events can happen at any hour; some bays stay sheltered when others are choppy. Whales and dolphins are wild and sightings are never guaranteed. We always adapt the route and departure time to the actual conditions.
